With the surging sales of its bestselling models, Etios and Liva in the Indian market, the Toyota Kirloskar Motor has attained multi-fold sales growth of 87 percent in the last month. The sales in March this year stood at 18220 cars as compared to the sales of 9726 cars in the corresponding month last year.

Even in the month of February 2012, the sales growth was 78.98 percent, which was majorly contributed by the sleek sedan, Toyota Etios and the trendy hatchback, Toyota Etios Liva that is not only captivating the domestic market but also has lured the car enthusiasts abroad.

The sales of Toyota Etios stood at 5104 units in the last month while the Toyota Liva totaled a sale of 4034 units, which the highest ever monthly sales recorded by the car since their launch.

Even the new version compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), Innova registered a high growth of 53 percent, while the sales growth of the newer sturdy SUV, Fortuner stood at 41 percent.

Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, "Etios continues to register high sales... The company registered 85% growth in the first quarter. However, the demand next month could be impacted due to the increase in excise duty, registration tax and VAT."

The automaker was one amongst the leading players in the Indian market to have expressed its dismay arising for the rise in excise duty that has compelled majority of the car makers to hike the prices of their complete product line.
