Talk about MPV’s and Innova form Toyota instantly gains a mention. The new-generation 2016 model has finally been unveiled at the recently held Auto Expo event in the country. Innova as brand has been synonymous as a perfect family car in India. The new model is stated to be based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform that is seen on the one sold in Indonesian markets. The new Innova in India offers an all new engine that comes mated to 6-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of dimensions, the new Innova gets a same wheelbase measuring 2750mm, but gets 60mm wider, 180mm longer and 45mm taller than its older model. The vehicle also weighs slightly lower than the older model. Under the hood, the 2016 Innova gets 2 engines options – 2.0-litre VVT-i petrol and a new 2.4-litre GD diesel engine. The petrol trim generates a powerful 137bhp and 183Nm of torque, while the diesel manual trim puts out about 147bhp and 342Nm, and the automatic churns out about 147bhp and 360Nm of torque. The vehicle would be offered in 6-speed automatic and manual transmission options.
In terms of features, the new Innova comes loaded with touchscreen infotainment system with navigation support, USB with AUX-In, steering mounted controls and automatic climate control with rear cooler, power driver seat, auto-close for tailgate and chrome window lining. As for safety, the vehicle comes loaded with features like ABS, EBD and BA. The new design with better ergo dynamics also helps the vehicle to attain high speeds comfortably.
The Innova from Toyota has always been a strong proposition in its segment. The new model loaded with a new engine and better features takes the brand to a whole new level. Improved performance, dynamics and features, definitely puts the new Innova in stronger position against competitors like Honda’s Mobilio and Maruti’s Ertiga in India.
