      Toyota India rejoices with 27 percent growth in 2012

      Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) marked a cumulative growth of 27 per cent in 2012 with figures standing at 172241 units, under the review of 136150 models delivered in 2011. On contrary, the auto maker witnessed a fall of 24 per cent in its December 2012 sales by delivering 12071 units against 15948 models sold in same tenure of 2011.

      The car maker shipped 1490 Etios models in December 2012 and 18422 units of the same during entire 2012. Including exports, TKM delivered 190663 units with a growth of 40 per cent against 136150 units sold in 2011.

      Expressing his views on sales performance, the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer in Marketing and Commercial, Sandeep Singh said, "Though we are satisfied with the overall growth in our sales volume of last year, the passenger car market continues to be slow, as has been in the last few months. We hope the New Year will usher in good times again with economic revival and better market sentiments. We would like to thank our customers for liking and appreciating our products and wish them a Happy New Year. We look forward to serving them and winning more happy customers, through the year by providing them the Toyota "Waku Doki" experience.”

      During 2012, the sales of Toyota Innova Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) stood at 75911 units with a cumulative growth of 46 per cent when compared to 51930 units delivered in 2011. Sailing in the same boat, Fortuner premium SUV also recorded a decent cumulative growth of 38 per cent with sales of 15153 units against 10946 units delivered in 2011. The Etios series also appeared with a healthy sales performance, marking a growth of 16 per cent with 73831 models delivered in 2012 against 63,575 cars sold in 2011.
