Japanese automaker Toyota's Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. is soon going to launch its new initiative, which has been named the Toyota Green Journey. The idea of the move is to get enthusiastic college students to think about sustainable methods and take initiatives for a better tomorrow. This is in keeping with Toyota's ideology to promote the concept of Hybrid Technology. The new program is Toyota's attempt to inform young students and help them in informing others about various initiatives for sustainability like proper waste management, fuel consumption and utility of green technologies in Indian cities.

Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director of Marketing at TKM, said about the move, “As a part of Toyota's endeavour to educate and create awareness about hybrid technology, we are very happy to announce the launch of Toyota Green Journey involving young bright minds. The initiative is in line with our global philosophy to promote and create awareness on Hybrid Technology.”

However, the journey is not going to be easy for TKM and the program has an elaborate process. There will be three online rounds where participants can give ideas for initiatives for sustenance and development. Fifteen groups will be selected after this stage, who will then make final presentations to an elated jury comprising 6 members. The jury members are veterans of diversified fields like Centre of Public Policy in Government of India, IIT Delhi, Bharti Teletech, Sales & Marketing of TKM and Dentsu Communications. The winners of the event will each receive a cash prize of whooping Rs. 1.5 lacs.

TKM confirmed that 2,700 participants have already registered for the journey. The plan is to form and promote ideas for innovation that will involve 500 institutions across India with a total of 5000 students.

Singh further remarked, “This initiative will give us an opportunity to connect with students from over 500 institutions in India and help us generate greener ideas to conserve energy and fuel. It will also help us sensitize the participants about the positive effects of hybrid technology.”
