If recent media reports in the domestic markets are to be believed, the dealers of Japanese auto giant Toyota have started unofficial bookings of the upcoming diesel versions of the sedan Etios and hatchback Liva. Both Etios and Liva are speculated to hit the Indian roads on 9th of September.
The reports further claim that while the Liva hatchback will be launched in two diesel variants, the Etios sedan will be rolled-out in three diesel variants. Diesel versions of both of these Etios series of cars were recently spotted in the Bangalore city.
Some recent news reports claim that the bookings for both of these diesel version models are open unofficially at an initial payment of Rs 50,000.
It has been just two months since the company is selling Etios Liva hatchback in the Indian market. But due to its slow sales, the car maker has decided to bring-in the diesel variant also, so that it can compete more promptly with rivals like Maruti Swift, Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo, all of which are already available in both diesel and petrol versions.
The Etios Liva diesel is expected to be launched with a 1.4L fixed turbo diesel engine that is capable of delivering a peak power of 75 bhp along with a considerably high fuel economy of 21 km per liter.
