Toyota Etios, an entry level sedan that was launched in India on Thursday, has been receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers in the country. In just 2 days of its launch, more than 3,077 units of Etios sedan have been booked in the Indian market. Unveiled with a highly competitive price tag of Rs. 4.96 lacs to 6.86 lacs, the Etios model has already become one of the most sought after cars in its segment. Initially, the company is charging an amount of Rs 50,000 for the booking of Etios. Toyota will start delivering the Etios model to its customers from January 2011.
The Etios sedan sports a 1.5L DOHC engine that is capable of a peak power of 90PS along with a maximum torque of 132 Nm. Mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox, the Etios is claimed to be offering a high fuel economy of 17.6 km/l. All five exciting variants of the car are available for booking comprising of Toyota Etios J, Toyota Etios G, Toyota Etios G Safety, Toyota Etios V and Toyota Etios VX The car has been offered in six exciting colors that comprises of Symphony Silver, Serene Bluish Silver, Harmony Beige, Vermilion Red, Celestial Black and White.
The Toyota Etios is an India focused car and the company has done an intensive study of needs and preferences of the Indian buyers for more than five years before rolling it out in the country. The Etios sedan is locking horns with the popular cars of this segment including Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo CS and Manza, Ford Fiesta and recently unveiled Volkswagen Vento. The company is aiming to produce 70,000 units of this car in the Indian market, annually. The hatchback version of Etios will be rolled out in the month of April next year.
