      Toyota Camry hybrid celebrates first anniversary in India with 541 Unit sales

      World leader in the automotive sector Toyota is also well known in the across the globe for its innovative hybrid technology capabilities. Toyota is celebrating its first anniversary in the country with its first locally manufactured Camry Hybrid. The company has also added that the hybrid manufactured at Bidadi, near Bangalore, in Karnataka has reportedly sold about 541 Camry Hybrid units during this period. The Japanese company now aims to induce the hybrid car technology in the cars at a larger scale.

      Speaking more about this impressive feat and journey, Naomi Ishii, managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s (TKM) said, “the energy crisis and increasing pollution are some of the gravest problems faced by the world today. Toyota aims to lead the future of mobility by addressing these challenges. With innovation and automotive solutions Toyota endeavours to lead the way to the future of mobility and build ‘better cars and communities’ in Asia, in harmony with the environment. Toyota has yet again achieved an important milestone, with its cumulative global hybrid sales crossing the seven-million mark, in October.”

      The Camry Hybrid is powered by a smartly developed 2.5-litre beltless petrol engine that is powered by an electric motor. The Hybrid Synergy Drive technology in the vehicle controls the motor and engine output to deliver impressive fuel efficency figures. The technology is also capable of identifying power sources that is drived from either the electric motor or the petrol engine. Speaking more on the occassion, “N Raja, Director and Nenior VP for Sales and Marketing said: “We would like to see increasing sales of the Hybrid in India. We look forward to one and all joining us in this drive to popularise this technology and its use. We would like to thank our customers for their encouraging response. We have so far sold 541 units of Camry Hybrid, since launch. Currently 75 percent of Camry sales are hybrid. The vehicle has been appreciated for its ideal combination of a luxury sedan and hybrid technology. Looking at the response we are encouraged to consider bringing more hybrid vehicles to India.”
