Toyota in Brazil is expected to introduce the automatic Etios saloon and hatchback in 2017. The cars will also get tweaked engines and an upgraded fascia.
The Brazilian market has been eagerly waiting for the automatic version of the Etios and Toyota is expected to divulge more information on this in the coming weeks. It is apparent from Toyota’s move that this introduction is to counter stiff competition from the likes of the Hyundai HB20 and the Chevrolet Onix.
Toyota’s Brazilian Etios may get the four-speed automatic transmission from the earlier Corolla, unlike the Hyundai and Chevrolet cars that currently offer six-speed gearboxes. Toyota is expected to tweak the 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre engines to make more power, and the car will come with an upgraded front end with revised headlamps, grille and bumper.
Toyota India has not released any information about an automatic Etios and Liva yet.
