Rumour had it that Toyota was planning to launch an 800cc model smaller than Toyota Etios by 2012. The car’s spy shots are now available on the internet. The model looks like a small four door version of iQ and is expected to be priced around Rs. 3 lakh. The car would then directly compete with models like Hyundai Santro, Maruti Alto and Chevrolet Spark.
The design of the model is largely based on Tata Nano’s style with engine at the rear. This again gives car a lot of space in the front. The car will run on a 800cc twin-cylinder ultra-efficient petrol engine. The car weighs in at 600kg and is about 3 meters long.
There is no official word from Toyota so far and it is still focused on launching of Toyota Etios in December this year. Toyota is already doing displays and Toyota Q World shows in various cities of India.
