Top Gear fans will have to wait till 2013 for their favourite program to resume as it is shelved for the year 2012. The famous TV show ended for the year and the only ray of hope for its fans is a Xmas special.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be back in 2013 with all new episodes of Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson promised that the new episodes will be even better as they are going to use the absence period to conjure up a better and more effective program for the New Year.

Simon Cowell's talent hunt show “The X Factor” occupies the Sunday night slot currently on BBC, thus the trios from Top Gear decided upon taking the break and return on air only after the current limelight grabbing singing competition by Cowell. In a double quick time, the journey from 2012 to 2013 will be covered and the spot vacated by the famed show will be occupied by something else for the time being.

Clarkson, from the Top Gear trio said, "Sunday nights will be full of fat people singing." He further blamed Cowell for Top Gear being shelved, "Top Gear is a medium size van. Cowell is a juggernaut. When he has finished his singing competition, our new series will start."

In an interview with a South African radio station, Jeremy Clarkson discussed details about Top Gear episode featuring the trio during a race weekend on Monaco Grand Prix (GP) circuit. He also discussed the upcoming Ron Howard movie “Rush” which features the 1976 F1 rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda along with Top Gear festival 2012, which will feature a number of cars that are rare and are not usually seen.

What the interviewer failed to notice but every one else did was the hint by Clarkson about there being no Top Gear in 2012 and the trio will be working together for the only time for the festival, this year. Clarkson cleared all doubts through his personal twitter account. He tweeted, “There's a rumour in internet land that there will be no more Top Gears this year. I'm afraid that apart from a Xmas special, it's true.”
