In an effort address environmental concerns and provide greener vehicles, most major car manufacturers from around the world are moving on to electric car technology. Here is a list of five electric cars from Geneva Motor Show which has caught our attention.
Rimac C_Two
The new Rimac C_Two which has been unveiled at 2018 Geneva Motor Show further takes things to the next level from the limited production Rimac Concept One hypercar which was produced till 2017. The electric hypercar is powered by a 120 kWh Lithium-Manganese-Nickel battery. The rear wheels are offered with a two speed gearbox, while the front gets a single speed gearbox. The electric motor generates a massive 1,887bhp of power and 2,300Nm of peak torque. The vehicle sprints from 0-100kmph in just about 1.97 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 412kmph. On a full charge, it can cover a distance of 650kms.
LCVHI Venere
Chinese car manufacturer LCVHI has caught attention at the Geneva Motor Show with its all-new electric vehicle called the Venere. Powered by 100kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the four-seat vehicle generates 992bhp of power and has a driving range of 500kms. LVCHI claims that the Venere can do the 0-100kmph sprint in under three seconds and have a top speed of over 250kmph. On the inside, there is large touchscreen centre console instead of conventional buttons. Measuring 5,118mm in length, the Venere is indeed longer than most modern day SUVs.
The Korean car manufacturer has ditched the combustion engine for good and revealed the first all-electric crossover in its segment, the electric Kona at Geneva Motor Show. The first powertrain comes in ‘Short Range’ guise and offers a single electric motor putting out 133bhp from its 39.2kWh battery pack. It has a range of 300km and can do 0-100kmph in 9.3 seconds. The more powerful, Long Range option gets a 64kWh battery and 201bhp with an impressive range of 470kilometres.
Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar marks its entry in the electric vehicle space with the I-Pace. The signature mesh grille with the feline headlamps and the snazzy cuts give the classic styling a futuristic appeal. As for the interior, it gets three screens and premium upholstery. Powering the I-Pace are two electric motors, one for each axle, and a combined power output of 394bhp of power. The four-wheel drive I-Pace sprints from standstill to 100kmph in just 4.5 seconds and also claims to offer a driving range of 450kmph.
Polestar 1
This is indeed Polestar’s first standalone hybrid ‘super’ coupe after its departure from Volvo. The Polestar 1 will form a halo for the Polestar brand. The two-door, four-seater Grand Tourer Coupe generates an impressive 592bhp of power and 1000Nm of torque. Based on the Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) platform the company claims that 50 per cent of its underpinnings are unique to the 1. Moreover, this will also be the first car to be fitted with all-new Ohlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi) technology.
