      Evolving technology and change in perceptions have been luring carbuyers towards vehicles with AMT and Automatic option. Paying a premium price in return for convenience is no longer a problem, especially when you are considering cars under Rs 10 lakhs. Top five cars that you may probably consider are – Maruti Wagon R, Celerio, Tata Zest, Maruti Baleno and the Mahindra TUV300.

      Maruti Suzuki has just introduced a Auto Gear Shift (AGS)/AMT system in its tall boy hatchback Wagon R and Stingray for Rs 4.76 lakh and Rs 4.98 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has offered the AMT option on the VXi trims. Under the hood, the vehicle continues to be powered by 1.0-litre engine that generates about 67bhp with 90Nm of torque, while returning an impressive mileage figure of about 20.51km/l. Customers can also opt for optional dual front airbags along with ABS.

      Maruti Suzuki Celerio

      The Celerio hatchback from Maruti Suzuki has been the first one to introduce the AMT concept in India. Under the hood, the Celerio also gets a 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that generates about 67bhp of power at 6, 000rpm and 90Nm at 3, 500rpm. The hatchback returns an impressive mileage figure of about 23.1km/l. Apart from the LXI and VXI trims, the AMT option is also available on the ZXi variant. The top-end Celerio ZXi variant is offered at a price tag of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

      The Zest sedan from Tata Motors also comes with an AMT option for customers looking out for options in the compact sedan segment. The sedan gets a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that generates about 88.8bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The company offers 50,000 km warranty/2 Years warranty on the vehicle. Inside the vehicle also offers optional integrated infotainment screen, 3-spoke steering wheel and dual-tone- Java Black & Latte.

      The recently launched TUV300 from Mahindra has emerged as a strong potential in the compact SUV segment. The TUV300 is indeed the first one to be offer an AMT option in its segment. Under the hood, the compact SUV gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine that generates about 84bhp of power. Apart from the AMT variant, the TUV300 is also available in five-speed manual transmission option. The vehicle gets interesting set of features like in-dash music system with bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, USB and aux connectivity, micro hybrid technology and reverse parking sensors.

      One more fresh entry from Maruti Suzuki is the new Baleno. Unlike the rest featuring on the list, the Maruti Baleno gets a CVT (continuously variable transmission) option apart from the optional five-speed manual transmission. Under the hood the vehicle gets 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns about 83bhp of power. In terms of features, the vehicle gets in-dash touchscreen system with Apple’s CarPlay, keyless entry, dual airbags, ABS and push start and stop features as standard across variants.
