After revealing it on the interweb, Toyota has taken the wraps off the Fine Comfort Ride Concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. At first glance, we can tell you that it’s the new mobile board room for the next generation of business millennials.

There is an air of minivan to the Fine Comfort but it’s a saloon or as we on this side of the continent like to call it- a sedan. On the outside, it’s all quirky in that typical Japanese way thanks to the stubby front, heavily flared wheel arches, smiley Toyota face and wedge like lamps both in the front and rear.

Step inside and things get interesting as Toyota has designed the FCV to utilise flexible seating options that it has been fitted with. It can be a private zone for just one person or with rotating seats, can also become a mobile meeting place. The concept boasts of a minimalistic interior in terms of design but don’t let that fool you as it’s loaded to the gills with the latest in terms of communication and driving technology that Toyota has to offer. You get dual digital displays, ambient lighting, lounge seats and even a virtual agent AI to perform your bidding on the GO.

The 1000km range is utilised by four electric motors that have been built into the wheels for maximum efficiency, space usage and sound penetration into the cabin. Its 4.8-meters long and has a wheelbase of 3.45-metres is quite massive inside. Thanks to the absence of internal pillars or any of the conventional setbacks associated with an ICE powered vehicle, it’s really roomy!
It’s a just a concept for now, but the Fine Comfort Ride hints at the design cues and direction that Toyota will take its big sedans like the Camry and Avalon in the future.
