The baja bug is alive and this time around it is Suzuki that’s breathing life into the concept with the e-survivor that it has unveiled at the 2017 Auto Salon. The e-survivor has been designed to look like a stripped out Jimny and gives an idea of Suzuki’s compact SUV range of the future.

In essence, it’s a Baja bug and has all traits to make it one. This includes the barebones design, tall knobby tyres, high ground clearance and very visible suspension bits. But there is nothing low tech about this car as it’s a 4WD EV with motors in each of the wheels making them truly independent of each other. What’s more, the cabin maybe open but it comprises two massive digital screens as well as what appears to be a space for a holographic projection in the centre console.

There are no technical details available for the car at present but it is not hard to image that it will have a modest output from all from all four electric motors but still be loads of fun to drive. We may get to see this car at Delhi 2018 as one of the vehicles on display at the Maruti Suzuki stall.
