Skoda is ready to launch three new variants of its popular model Skoda Fabia in India. The new updated variants of the premium hatchback model will include a sport variant as well. The sports edition will be named as Fabia Sportline that will come fully loaded with newly designed interiors and alloy wheels. Fabia Sportline will sport a 1800cc engine while other two variants will be 1200cc and 1600cc.
Skoda is also planning to launch Skoda Combi and Skoda Roomster this year. “We will launch multiple variants of the Fabia to leverage on its popularity. We will introduce Fabia Combi (estate version) and the tallboy Roomster models to consolidate the brand in the Indian market. We will also showcase the Fabia Rally car, though it will not be available for retail sale,” Skoda’s head (sales and marketing) Thomas Kuehl said.
Skoda is a group company of Europe’s largest carmaker, Volkswagen. It has been one of the few auto makers who have sailed safely through the tough times so far. The company’s sales have increased by 22 percent in the Indian market in the April to December period. Fabia is one of the most popular models of the company which managed to clock sales of 7000 units in 2008.
