This is a digital image of what the Ford Fiesta RS could look like if the car goes into production. With a similar 'Nitrous Blue' paint shade earlier seen on the Ford Focus RS, there’s no doubt that this exterior colour combined with the edgier body lines make for a decidedly sportier stance.
Currently, the top-of-the-line Fiesta ST is powered by a three-cylinder motor, so expect the Fiesta RS to be the recipient of a four-cylinder motor with significantly more performance on tap. Ford’s Fiesta ST has already been unveiled but the car will hit the market only in the first half of 2018. Under its hood is a three-cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor that produces 197bhp that helps it sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.7sec.
Everybody thought the previous-generation Fiesta would get the RS badge, but it sadly never materialised. It is a known fact that these RS versions (just like the Focus RS) are usually introduced at the end of the car’s life cycle. Which means that the Fiesta (debuted recently) in the RS form may make a worldwide entry only by the early 2020s, since that’s when it would reach the end of its life cycle.
Sadly, Ford has not confirmed its intention of building the car as of now, but who knows what the future has in store for us all. Stay tuned.
