India's leading Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) concluded the biggest event on the calendar of Mahindra Adventure umbrella brand, 'Authentic Goa Escape 2012'. The three day event, held between August 17-19, 2012, gave the participants an opportunity to explore the Old Goa, Elephant Village and some hardcore TSD rallying with recreational off-roading experience.
At the concluding event, Vivek Nayar, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, said, “In keeping with our promise of providing adrenaline pumping challenges & escapes, this year we are pleased to introduce the first season of the Authentic Goa Escape 2012 in association with Ceat Tyres & Mobil 1, under the umbrella brand of Mahindra Adventure. The escape gave participants a chance to experience a slice of Goa that has been mostly unexplored. The journey also celebrated Incredible India as it passed through some of the most unseen parts of Goa.”
Heading towards Goa, the event's flag-off witnessed 20 M&M vehicles including XUV 500, Thar, Bolero, Bolero Stinger and Scorpio treading the trail. The caravan of the UVs moved along the track lined with white churches and coconut trees. It was then connected to the coast heading towards Cabo de Rama fort, which is situated on a spot overlooking the ocean and covered by overgrown vegetation.
On day 2, drivers indulged in some challenging TSD rallying along the route passing through some of the rain splattered forests to arrive at the Shankar temple, which dates back to the 13th century.
The third and the final day of the event was the best of all with drivers testing their off-roading skills at the Quepe in South Goa. It was an adrenaline pumping experience with several river bed crossings, extreme wheel articulation, jumps across the terrains and wild approach angles. After a tiring day of practising off-roading skills, participants had an amazing evening with a friendly football match being played between them and the locals at Majorda beach. The whole concept of the event was conceived on the idea of giving a chance to participants to explore the unseen Goa and at the same time offering some serious TSD and off-roading experience to both professionals and amateurs.
Authentic Goa Escape 2012 was a part events planned for this year by the Mahindra Adventure brand. The umbrella brand is a unique initiative by the car maker to exhibit the brilliant prowess of its model line-up. Mahindra Adventure is also planning to enter official teams at some of the challenging and daring motorsports events in the country, including Dakshin Dare, Raid De Himalaya and Desert Storm.
