Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, one of India's most popular models, is also sold as Suzuki Solio in several overseas markets. The Solio is primarily sold in Japan and Taiwan at present.

According to Japan’s mag-x, new generation of Solio will share chassis and engine with the new Swift, but will have more personalized appearance. The car will run under YK8 codename and have a body size of about 3750 MM X 1685MM X 1660MM, with 2430MM wheelbase. The new model will have similar tall-boy design but will have more leg space and will be spacious from inside due to a longer wheelbase in the 2011 model. Other features include short roof antenna, a small grille, large front air dam, straight tail group, multi-channel body lines, and 15-inch alloy wheels.

The engine will be shared with the new Swift and have the same inline four-cylinder 1242cc DOHC VVT equipped with variable valve naturally aspirated gasoline engine. The maximum horsepower is estimated at 90hp/6000rpm, torque 11.8kgm/4800rpm. The mileage is estimated at 23.0-24.0km / L.
