      The new Bajaj Pulsar 200NS to lead the two-wheeler segment in India

      Bajaj Auto, India’s leading two wheeler manufacturer, recently unveiled its much anticipated Pulsar 200 NS in Mumbai. This new model by Bajaj Auto will be launched in April 2012, after which the cost of the product will also be revealed. According to recent reports, the new Pulsar 200 NS will most probably be priced below Rs. 1 lac.

      Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj stated, "The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is best middle-class sports bike. It will be commercially launched beginning next fiscal through 600 dealers across the country. The price is expected to be below Rs. 1 lac."

      Bajaj Auto has earlier launched an off-roader bike, Duke 200 in collaboration with Austrian partner, KTM. The Chief Technology Officer, Abraham Joseph worked with Edgar Heinrich (former BMW Motorrad designer) and incorporated technologically advanced engine in Pulsar 200 NS, resulting in high performance, fuel efficiency and emission. Abraham Joseph said that the new product would be designed at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan facility in Pune. This plant can manufacture around 1 lac units on a monthly basis.

      The new Pulsar 2012 is equipped with new features, namely 6 speed gearbox, Nitrox Mono Shock Absorber along with independent gas canister at the rear and a petal disc break at front as well as rear. The sculpted front mudguard, wrap around tank shield, split seat, Darth Vader headlamp and delectable rear registration are some of the striking features of the new Pulsar 200 NS that adds to the appeal of the bike.

      Bajaj Auto assimilated the DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark-ignition) technology in its previous Pulsar models. However, the Pulsar 200 NS will be equipped with the more advanced SOHC 4 valve triple spark liquid cooled, 200 cc single cylinder engine. This naked type bike has 6-speed transmission, pressed steel perimeter beam section frame type chassis and 32 mm carburettor.

      The engine of the new Pulsar 200 NS can deliver maximum power of 23 hp at 9500 rpm and maximum torque of 18.3 Nm at 8000 rpm. According to company officials, this performance oriented engine can reach 60 kmph in just 3.61 seconds and 100 kmph in 9.8 seconds. The new Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS offers excellent mileage of 58 kmpl, while riding it at a speed of 55 kmph.

      The newly launched Duke 200 and recently unveiled Pulsar 200 NS share some features. Piston, connecting rod and crankshaft are similar in both the bikes. Moreover, the bore and stroke of both models are 72mm x 49mm.

      The new Pulsar 2012 weighs 145 kg that is 7 kg less than the Pulsar 200 DTS-I, which is presently the fastest motorcycle by Bajaj Auto in India. With the top speed of 136 kmph, the Pulsar 200 NS will receive the title of the fastest motorbike ever designed by the domestic automobile company. Bajaj Auto expects the feature packed Pulsar 200 NS to attract the youth of the country that are increasingly opting for stylish and high performing sports bike.
