      The Frankfurt Auto Show Begins

      Day One - One of the largest auto shows of the year began yesterday in Germany – The Frankfurt Auto Show 2009. New models and new concept cars are all on the floor. Theme of the show largely remains the eco-friendly cars where every car maker showcases their latest fuel efficient models and even electric cars.

      Audi e-Tron remained the show stealer which is the latest electric car that targets performance, range and durability that is also eco-friendly.       The show also gives an insight as to what can be expected of the new Porsche Boxter-sized sports car rumored to be R4.

      Renault revealed its three new electric car concepts as well as its Renault Sport Megane 250.

      Daimler AG also revealed its several hybrid and electric cars promising luxury and fuel efficiency all along. It presented Mercedes-Benz Vision S 500 plug-in hybrid which is basically a gas-electric combination capable of delivering mileage of 25kmpl. "All of this shows that our top models will also be able to combine automotive fascination with responsibility for the environment," Daimler chief executive Dieter Zetsche said. Mercedes also intends to roll out its F-cell model by the end of this year.

      Volkswagen is also coming up with its latest electric car model E-Up which is the battery electric version of its mini car Up!
