The line separating internal combustion engines and their electric counterparts keep getting thinner. And the best part is that the increase in performance in EVs don’t dent the efficiency like IC engines encounter. It is commendable that Tesla’s initiatives are paying off and their tech now rivals established players like the Bugatti.

Tesla’s P100D is a 100kwh battery pack that will be seen on the Tesla Model S and Model X. The interesting bit here is that while the Model S P100D claims to be the first EV to go over the 482km range mark, it will offer scintillating acceleration.

Tesla has priced the Model S P100D at 134,500 USD (Rs 90.22 lakh) and the Model X 100D at 135,500 USD (Rs 90.90 lakh). Those existing Tesla Model S and Model X P90D owners can opt for the P100D battery pack upgrade for 20,000 USD (Rs 13.41 lakh). Additionally, anybody who has booked a P90D and are waiting for delivery can upgrade for 10,000 USD (Rs 6.70 lakh). Tesla added that the money will be used for recycling the old battery pack.

Elon Musk, said, "This has been a very difficult development. Going from roughly 90 to 100 battery pack was like a 50 per cent increase in difficulty." For now Tesla will be limiting the production of the P100D due to the battery's complexity.
