Tesla has received 2,53,000 bookings for the Model 3 that was unveiled yesterday. 1,80,000 pre-orders out of these bookings come within a span of 24hours showing the tremendous response the new sedan has received.

Tesla Motors' CEO Elon Musk officially announced through his twitter handle that the car is already making success stories. The Model 3 is expected to take the brand to a whole new league in the automotive industry. For now, it definitely seems to be heading in the right direction by already creating waves before it actually goes on sale globally next year.

What is so special about the new electric car is that it is priced at USD 35,000 (around Rs 23.23 lakh). The Model 3 comes packed with all the goodies that one can expect from an entry-level premium luxury sedan. The mid-size pure electric sedan can sprint from 0-100kmph in under six seconds and has a range of 215miles (346km). It will compete with the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, etc. Backed up by zero emission credentials and a high performance, the Model 3 still has an upper hand over these conventional premium sedans.

Tesla started bookings for the Model 3 even before the unveil event began citing concerns over their server overloading. An amount of 1000USD is all what is required to book the electric car across many countries. No wonder the carmaker has received so many orders, some of which are from India as well. The global deliveries of the LHD version of the Model 3 will start in 2017 in a phased manner. We can then expect the RHD variant to come to our country in 2018 if everything goes according to the company's plan.
