Around 6 months ago senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde had lost his life in a road accident in Delhi. The accident occurred as taxi driver Gurvinder Singh reportedly skipped a red light and collided with official minister's vehicle that was on its way to Indira Gandhi Airport. Initially, the case was registered by Delhi Police, that was later passed on CBI to investigate if the accident involved any foul play. Singh has also claimed that the minister's vehicle had jumped a red light that lead to this accident.
Post in-depth investigation that was conducted with the help of IIT, Delhi, it was learned that there was no foul play involved in the accident and it was just an unfortunate incident. Based on investigation, CBI has charged Singh under sections 279 and 304-A, which means if he is found guilty, he shall receive a maximum sentence of two years of imprisonment.
The CBI report, goes on to state, “Investigation was conducted to find out if any foul play or criminal conspiracy was involved in the death of Munde. During the probe, a thorough scrutiny of all possible leads and angles was conducted. The antecedents and movements of suspected persons and all persons associated with the minister were verified. However, the probe has clearly ruled out any foul play in the death of Munde and it has been concluded that he died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.”
