The Zica hatchback from Tata Motors is all set for launch on the 20th of January 2016. The hatchback is an all-new offering that borrows a few components from the Indica. Post the Zica’s launch, Tata Motors plans on introducing a sub-compact sedan version based on the same platform. The upcoming Tata Zica is expected to emerge as a strong competitor against the likes of Maruti’s Celerio and Hyundai’s Grand i10.
Under the hood, the Tata Zica will be offered with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that generates about 84bhp, while the diesel version would be powered by an all-new 1.05-litre three-cylinder turbo-diesel unit with 69bhp on tap. Initially, the vehicle would be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox, while AMT could be introduced at a later date.
In terms of safety, the upcoming Tata Zica will get ABS and dual front airbags in the top of the line trims. It will also get a Harman-sourced audio system with AUX, USB, Bluetooth connectivity and android powered smartphone navigation system. The pricing is not yet known but expect it to be priced under the Rs 5-lakh bracket.
