After enduring a really tough period in the Indian market, things are finally turning around for Tata Motors as their newly launched compact sedan Zest has earned positive reviews and is setting the cash registers ringing. However, the company has not been up to the mark in catering to the high demand of customers, which has increased the waiting period up to six months. Mayank Pareek, the President of Tata Motors’ passenger division, has said that he is disappointed with the way the matter is being handled and would be hoping to change the scenario in coming weeks.

Speaking in an interview, Pareek said, "We should supply to the customer just when he wants. Efforts are on to ramp up production as we also speak to vendors to up the supplies where there is a shortage. We should have managed the supplies better." Pareek’s comments would certainly be highly encouraging for customers and they would certainly want to see a reduction in the waiting period.

Zest has gained first-mover advantage in its segment by becoming the first automatic model, which has put rivals Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and Hyundai Xcent on the backfoot. Featuring 5-speed automatic transmission, called F-tronic transmission by Tata Motors, this car is perfect for busy city traffic. In addition, its petrol version has a 1.2-litre turbocharged version, which is a first for the segment. All these factors have contributed in the success and constantly rising demand of Tata Zest.
