      Tata Zest compact sedan launched at jaw dropping price of Rs 4.64 lakh

      Tata Motors has launched the much awaited and highly anticipated compact sedan, Zest in India at a grand event organized in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The sedan has been launched in both petrol and diesel guise in a total of nine trim levels including four petrol trims and five diesel trims. Petrol trims include XE, XM, XMS and XT while diesel range comprise of XE, XM, XMA, XMS and XT. Base petrol model is available for Rs 4.64 lakh while basic diesel version is priced at Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The compact sedan has been built on Tata’s comprehensively modified X1 platform that also underpins Vista hatchback.

      Built on Tata’s DesignNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext philosophy Zest features Tata’s signature grille with new ‘Humanity Line’ that flows into the head lights. In the front, the sedan gets projector head lights on the XM, XMA, XMS and XT trims while high end trim gets daytime running lights with LED light guide rings. At the rear LED lamps have been equipped, side profile has been kept suave the sedan gets 15 inch alloy wheels across all trims as a standard feature. Other standard features across the range include power steering, central locking, body coloured OVRMs with blinkers and turn indicators. Petrol version flaunts higher ground clearance of 175mm as compared to diesel version that has a ground clearance of 165mm. Capacious cabin offers best in class head room, leg room and shoulder room. Two-tone colour scheme has been integrated inside the cabin. A string of high end goodies too have been incorporated inside the cabin such as Harman infotainment system with four speakers and four tweeters is included in the entertainment package, new AC vents, EPAS with active return function, speed sensitive power steering developed by ZF, five inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smart voice recognition, advanced smartphone integration and MapMyIndia navigation system among others. Harman entertainment system is also being offered among all the trims except XE variant. Tata claims that Zest offers best in class A/C performance capable of beating India’s heat.

      High end trims- XMS and XT get dual SRS front airbags as standard features. XMS trim gets ABS along with dual front airbags. Other safety features include speed sensing auto door lock, day and night rear view mirror, rear parking assist with display on infotainment screen, fog lamps, cornering stability control, clutch lock, 3-point seat belt at front, rear outer 3-point belt and centre lap belt among others.

      Powering petrol trims is a newly developed 1.2 litre i-VTEC Revotron petrol engine that is capable of developing a top power and torque output of 88.8 Bhp and 140 Nm respectively. Diesel range will be equipped with tried and tested Fiat sourced 1.3 litre multi-jet engine that does duty in a number of popular cars including Marti Swift Dzire. The diesel motor is available in two states of tune- 74 Bhp and 88.8 Bhp. The 74 Bhp version generates top torque of 190 Nm while the 88.8 Bhp version develops top torque of 200 Nm. Basic diesel variant is housed with the 74 Bhp diesel motor while rest of the variants get 88.8 Bhp version. AMT version is housed inside the top end XT diesel trim that comes with sports mode and manual shift assist. A five speed manual gearbox is mated to the petrol engine and diesel trims get both manual and automated manual transmission. The AMT gearbox offers three driving modes- City, Eco and Sport. Zest is available in six colour options- Buzz Blue, Pristine White, Platinum Silver, Sky Grey, Venetian Red and Dune Beige. Tata Motors revamped its dealerships and recruited new staff across its thick network of outlets in India ahead of Zest launch. The company is offering a three year warranty with 1 lakh kms and three years of road-assistance.
