Meanwhile, the exports have plummeted by 32 per cent as the carmaker exported only 4,311 units last month. The combined domestic passenger and commercial vehicle sales, recorded a growth of five per cent at 48,886 units, in October 2017, compared to same period last year. The festive season and introduction of the new product during the period has helped the carmaker register a growth in the previous month. On the other hand, explaining the drop in export numbers, the Mumbai-based carmaker says it is due to the continued drop in total industry volume in export countries of Sri Lanka and Nepal.

The domestic passenger vehicle sales were supported by the sale of vehicles like the Tiago, Tigor, Hexa and the newly-launched Nexon, boasts the carmaker. The all-new Nexon enters the highly competitive compact crossover segment in the Indian market. The sub-four metre SUV is expected to bring in more customers for the carmaker given the demand for compact SUVs in the country lately.
