The Tata Nexon AMT has been unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo and will be launched for the Indian car market later this year. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit producing 108bhp/170Nm while the diesel is a new 1.5-litre unit producing 108bhp/260Nm and made its debut with the Nexon. The AMT for both cars will be a six-speed unit. When launched, this this AMT (automated manual transmission) spec Nexon will also debut a new orange colour for the compact SUV. You get three driving modes, creep function as well as a hill-hold function as a part of the AMT package.
We believe that Tata will price the AMT spec Nexon with an increase of Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 compared to the equivalent manual variant. It will initially offer the AMT only in the higher spec variants. It will GO up against the likes of the Mahindra TUV300 in the diesel range and against the Honda WR-V and Ford EcoSport in the petrol range.
