Tata Motors had been long blamed to create congestion on Indian roads in next few years owing to their latest invention – Tata Nano. Critics have blamed that the car will congest roads to their brim and there will not be any breathing space. Some studies say that by 2030, 25 percent of Mumbai will be covered by cars and parking lots. That is a lot of space devoted to just parking cars, and in Mumbai, space is at a premium. However, Tata can be trusted to give India the most suited Indian-solution for all its problems.

Tata Nano is people’s car, Tata Winger has emerged as people’s carrier and Tata Indica is one of the best selling hatchbacks after Maruti, especially in the diesel segment. TataTowers is the next big solutions from the House of Tata. Reuters has termed the project as “Super Garage of the Future.”

The Tata Tower is slated to act as a vertical parking garage, providing ample space (and charging for electric vehicles) to 4,050 Tata Nanos. The towers would lift the Nanos up into slots along the tower, and is expected to have a sort of ticket system or code which would retrieve the car for you. The building would also have a number of alternative energy systems like photovoltaic louvers, building-integrated wind turbines, tri-generation, and an algae farm which would be used to power itself as well as the cars.

Apart from acting as a parking space and charging point for EVs, Tata Towers will also have a capacity to house 930 residences for Tata employees. The Tata Tower has been designed by Seth Ellsworth & Jayoung Kim.
