Tata Motors will ramp up production of the Tiago to meet a demand of 20,000 units that it has got for its new entry-level hatchback.  The Mumbai-based automaker is manufacturing the car at its Sanand plant and is currently running only a single shift for the same. It will soon begin a second shift to ramp up production.

It has also been revealed that customers have been giving preference to the petrol variants over the diesel models with regard to the Tiago. We believe that such a trend has come on the back of usage patterns in this part of the car market as well as increase in demand for petrol powered vehicles.

Tata had launched the Tiago for the Indian market on April 6 and have priced it in the range of Rs 3.2 lakh for the entry-level petrol to Rs 5.4 lakh for the top-spec XZ diesel. It is offered in five petrol variants and five diesel variants. This is the replacement for the ageing Indica hatchback in the passenger vehicle market and will soon be followed by the Kite 5 compact sedan.
