      Tata To Enter Progressive Automotive X Prize Competition

      Tata Motors Ltd. from India has become the first car manufacturer to enter the race to bag the Progressive Automotive X Prize Competition. According to the competition, teams have to develop a car that can achieve at least 100 miles per gallon. It has to win the series of races thereafter that depict the actual world driving conditions. All those vehicles that do not consume gasoline have to achieve an energy equivalent to that of 100 miles per gallon.

      Tata has already marked a milestone in the auto industry worldwide of its engineering and designing capabilities by introducing its ultra cheap car – Tata Nano. Now it plans to develop and e-drive micro car and an electric hybrid which would be able to achieve 100 miles per gallon along with an appeal for the masses.
      According to the letter of intent signed by Tata Motors UK with it shall “design to inspire a new generation of viable, super fuel-efficient vehicles”.
