The Tata Tigor has been introduced in India and has been priced at Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Indian automaker’s new compact sedan offering has been slotted above the Tiago hatchback. Given it’s slightly premium image, Tata has started the Tigor hierarchy with the mid-level models and to give you an idea of what each step of the Tigor offers, here is our variant wise break up. We begin our exploration with the top-of-the-line XZ (O) variant.

      Tata Tigor variants decoded

Tata Tigor XZ (O) Rs 6.19 lakh (P) and Rs 7.09 lakh (D)
This is the top-of-the-line Tigor with all the bells and whistles that Tata offers with its new compact sedan. The diesel and petrol models both get the same features, trim options and design bits. This list includes a touchscreen infotainment system, climate control; power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and an arm rest (with cup holders) for the rear passengers. In addition to this, it also gets projector head lamps, alloy wheels, body-coloured mirrors and door handles.  This is the most loaded variant when it comes to safety options as you get dual airbags, ABS with EBD and corner stability control.

Tata Tigor XZ Rs 5.90 lakh (P) and Rs 6.80 lakh (D)
This is the second-to-top variant of the compact sedan and is priced Rs 29,000 lower than the XZ (O) variant. The price cut sees the variant lose out on the touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, premium roof liner and the Tata smart remote. However, you still get all the safety features and other comfort options like the rear arm rest with cup holders.

Tata Tigor XT Rs 5.41 lakh (P) and Rs 6.31 lakh (D)
A mid-level variant of the Tigor, this model is priced Rs 50,000 lower than the XZ variants. In terms of the order, this is a variant is a few levels below the XZ variant. The half-a-lakh price drop has been achieved through the removal of alloy wheels, external chrome garnish, no body coloured air vents and removal of tweeters-on from the sound system. In addition to that, this variant does not get airbags or seat belt pre-tensioners but, retains the ABS with EBD feature.

Tata Tigor XE Rs 4.7 lakh (P) and Rs 5.6 lakh (D)
We are now down to the entry level model of the Tata Tigor. These variants are priced Rs 71000 and Rs 73000 lower than the XT models. The models are quite bare-boned with no exterior chrome garnish or body coloured ORVMs. The cabin is dual toned, but loses out on the music system option completely as well as the power windows and height adjustment for the driver’s seat.

We believe that the XZ (O) variant would be the preferred option among buyers as it has all the bells and whistles and is priced just Rs 29,000 more than the standard XZ variant.
