The Tata Tigor will be launched for the Indian market tomorrow. This is a new compact sedan from the Indian automaker and has been dubbed a styleback thanks to a unique opening style for the boot. We have driven the car and you can the link to our review here.

On the styling front, the Tigor takes of much of its design from the Tiago hatchback. It’s a familiar silhouette all the way up to the C-pillar where the lines flow into the stubby boot. Apart from the boot, the Tigor also gets a different design for the alloy wheels to separate it from the hatchback. The cabin is exactly the same one found in the Tiago with the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system that also doubles up as a screen for the reverse camera.

Powering the Tigor is the 1.0-litre Revotorque diesel and the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol. The former produces 69bhp/140Nm while the petrol produces 83bhp/114Nm. A five-speed manual is standard for both engines and we believe that they will offer the five-speed AMT on at least two variants of the Tigor.

We believe that Tata will price the Tigor in the range Rs 3.8 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh. The Tigor is a unique proposition in this part of the market as there has never been a compact sedan here. Its ideal competition would be the upcoming Chevrolet Essentia.  However, given the wide price range, it will also compete It will also take on the likes Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the Honda Amaze.
