The Tata Tigao launched at starting price of Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-Delhi) is available in five variants – XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ. While all of them are available with only petrol and one diesel engine option – the 1.2-litre petrol (84bhp / 115Nm) and 1.05-litre diesel (69bhp / 140Nm), here is a quick look at the features offered by Tata in each of these trims.

The base XB variant has body coloured bumpers, power steering and tinted glasses. However, the car misses out on the all-important air conditioner. It still better than the entry-level cars like the Renault Kwid that omit even the power steering from the base model.

In the XE trim, Tata Motors if offering AC, chrome elements to the exterior, wheel covers and 12V socket. This variant is Rs 40,000 more expensive than the base and can be further upgraded with the optional safety pack, which includes front airbags, driver seat height adjustment, adjustable headrests and premium upholstery.

The XM trim gets few additional features like central locking, front power windows, speed sensing door lock, follow me home headlamps, rear parcel tray and coat hook. There is still no music system in this trim, not even a basic 1-DIN unit that can play FM and music through AUX input.

Tata is offering more than a decent music system in the XT and the top-end variant. Developed by Harman, the music system has Bluetooth, i-Pod connectivity, AUX and USB input and along with all of above also has the ability to rear maps from Android phones and stream music from multiple sources through Juke App. Additionally this version gets body coloured ORVMS and door handles, electrical controls for the wing mirrors, rear parking sensors and vanity mirror for the co-driver.

The XZ is the top-spec variant and is the only trim to get ABS-EBD. That apart all the features from the option pack are standard for this trim along with alloy-wheels, turn indicators on ORVMs, body / chrome inserts for AC vents, steering mounted audio controls, rear wiper and defogger and front fog lamps. With the price tag of Rs 4.75 lakh and Rs 5.54 lakh for the petrol and diesel respectively, the Tiago is also marginally lower priced than its main competition, the Celerio.
