Post the Zica getting the new Tiago name, Tata Motors has finally started the production for the hatchback at the company’s Sanand facility in Gujarat. This would indeed be the second model after the Nano to be manufactured at the plant by the company. As stated by sources, it is believed that Tata motors has already produced about 1,800 units of Tiago and is awaiting for the regulatory registration process to be completed.
The Tata Tiago would be offered in 1.2-litre Revotron based petrol engine that generates about 84bhp of power and 1.0 litre Revotorq diesel engine that would generate about 69bhp of power. Though initially Tiago may be offered in 5-speed manual transmission, it could soon get an AMT variant too. The vehicle would indeed get the first engines in its class that features a multi-drive modes like City and Eco. The vehicle weighs about 1080kgs and has a fuel tank capacity of about 35-litres.
In terms of dimensions the Tata Tiago measures about 3746mm in length, 1537mm in height and about 1647mm in width. The hatchback gets a ground clearance of about 170mm and has a wheelbase of about 2400mm. The hatchback also boasts of having a boot space of about 242litres. In terms of safety, the upcoming Tiago would be loaded with EBD, ABS, speed sensing doors that auto lock, corner stability control, energy absorbing body structure and dual front airbags. The vehicle would also feature Follow-me halogen headlamps along with fog lamps on the front.
The sporty 14-inch alloys wheels are also something to look out for in the new Tata Tiago. As for entertainment the hatchback would be loaded with 8-speakers, ConnectNext Infotainment by Harman with AUX-IN, Bluetooth and USB connectivity options. The official pricing for the Tiago is not revealed for now, it is anticipated to be priced around Rs 4-6 lakhs.
