The Tiago hatchback has been spotted with an AMT transmission in petrol guise. Previously the Tiago came only in manual transmission with diesel and petrol engines. This AMT engine would mean that Tata Motors can expect to see an additional boost in sales to its popular selling model.
Post Nano’s success with AMT in petrol, the Tiago was very much expected to be offered with a petrol AMT variant. The fresh images of the petrol AMT Tiago test mule have further indicated its possible launch in the next few months. The new AMT transmission will come mated to the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine which generates 84bhp of power and 115Nm of torque.
The new Tiago petrol AMT variant is expected to perform well post launch owing to growing demand from customers for cars with AMT options, due to their convenience factor. Though the test mule has been heavily camouflaged, we do not expect to see major design upgrades other than new badging at the rear. It could be offered as an option on the top-end spec variant. More details about the car will be known in the coming days.
