A CNG powered version of the Tata Tiago hatchback will be launched in India soon and ahead of its arrival, Tata has released a teaser image for the car which doesn’t reveal much but leaked images have revealed the car in their entirety.
In essence, a variant of the Tiago, it’s expected to be offered in the mid-level and entry-level variants and obviously with petrol power which in this case is Tata’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine. It’s expected to be down on power as compared to the standard petrol-powered models and will be offered with manual transmission only. A similar setup is also expected to be offered with the Tigor compact sedan.
The arrival of the Tiago and Tigor CNG was inevitable considering that Tata doesn’t have a diesel in this part of the market as well as the fact that Maruti Suzuki has been pushing its CNG powered models in this part of the market quite heavily. We expect a premium in the range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 per variant over the standard car for the CNG Tiago as well as the CNG Tigor.
