The trucks have been further developed and are now about 500kg lighter, brake better and have a better safety. The trucks will certainly be faster overall and will see 12 Indian and 12 international drivers (Pro class) battling it out. The Indian truck racers have been chosen from the 500 nominations Tata Motors got from their dealers and fleet operators. The nominated drivers have undergone a series of evaluations and screening across four levels to select the 12 racers. The drivers were shortlisted on the basis of their clean track records and race readiness. They were then groomed in a training program which included race orientation, race coaching and practice. The final 12 are the fastest among the lot and as per the trainers, a couple of them can even match international drivers if they continue training.

Truck racing is gaining popularity with the spectator count doubling in the second season. The racing trucks and the races are organised as per international standards and certified by the British truck racing association. With the announcement coming of the Jamshetji Tata day, Tata Motors is hopeful that the T1 prima truck racing would evolve into an internationally acclaimed series over the years.
