Tata’s rugged SUV, Safari Storme is up for an upgrade, launched two years ago in domestic market; this is the first facelift that the SUV will receive. Spotted of late being tested in the country, the SUV is likely to sport minimal changes including exterior and interior modifications. On the exterior front revivification could be seen in the form of a new honeycomb mesh grille and a tweaked bumper. Rear is expected to get a collapsible step, however there will be no change in the shape of the SUV.

Front facing captain seats could be installed in the third row inside the cabin. Currently the captain facing seats are placed in the front.

Besides this the interiors could also get new upholstery and a revised central console is also expected to be incorporated inside the cabin equipped with a new integrated music system. A few other interior changes could also be expected to make it look upmarket.

Mechanical tweaks are also on cards, the 2.2 litre VariCOR diesel engine will continue to serve the vehicle, however it could be tuned to offer enhanced power output by 10 Bhp from current 140 Bhp to 150 Bhp. Along with a conventional five-speed manual gearbox, there are chances of an automatic transmission being put on offer. In domestic market, the SUV is likely to face off with its arch rival Mahindra Scorpio. Interestingly Mahindra is also working on a facelift version of Scorpio that is also likely to be launched during the festive season.
