Buoyed by the positive response for the Zest compact sedan and Bolt hatchback, Tata Motors is now planning to launch a series of new cars in the Indian market. The company is working on a new project - Kite under which two compact cars will be produced - a hatchback and a sub-compact sedan. Moreover, the manufacturer is also working on a compact SUV Nexon which is likely to be showcased at the 2016 Delhi Motor Show. In a bid to increase sales of the Safari Storme, the maker is also planning to give a mild makeover to the SUV. The updated Safari Storme has already been spotted a couple of times during its test rounds.

Talking about changes, the Safari Storme gets a new honeycomb grille, flanked by the slightly tweaked headlamps. The airdam design remains the same and features a similar honeycomb grille. Other changes include modified alloy wheels, door handles, bumpers, etc. The Safari Storme facelift will get a lot more equipped cabin. It is expected to get a new infotainment system, new seat covers, leather trims, etc. The single-din audio system available in the current model will be replaced by a new larger touchscreen infotainment system. The integrate display will serve as a display for the reversing camera as well.

The Safari Storme facelift is likely to get a bench-type forward facing seat at the rear, as the current model has the jump seats. The company might also introduce the captain's seat in the second row, but as an optional feature in top-end variant.

Under the bonnet, the Safari Storme will get the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder VariCOR diesel engine that also powers the Aria. While the current engine produces 138bhp, it is expected that the new model will offer 148bhp of power. A five-speed manual gearbox will do the job, while automatic variant is expected to come at a later stage.
