      Tata Safari Storme Explorer Edition launched in India for Rs. 10.8 lakh

      Tata Motors, the country's largest auto maker, has launched the Explorer Edition of Safari Storme in the Indian auto market with a host of new features. Priced at Rs. 10.86 lakh, the new model offers a number of advancements which are sure to leave the Indian auto enthusiasts mesmerised. The newly introduced Explorer Edition has been placed as a variant in the existing Safari Storme line-up. Features like a cycle carrier, cargo basket and roof mounted canopy has been packed within the new model.

      The model has been equipped with the same 2.2-litre VariCOR turbocharged engine, which has been incorporated with Variable Turbine Technology. The maximum power delivered by the engine of this model stands at 138 bhp, along with a peak torque of 320 Nm. The performance oriented engine of this car has been mated to a five speed manual transmission system, which offers hassle free shifts between the gears.

      At its exteriors, the new model has been provided with the decals of 'Explorer Edition' on its bonnet and sides. The door visors of the car has been exclusively designed, which allow passengers to slightly keep their windows open even at high speeds. Talking about the interiors of new model, the auto maker has introduced a number of cutting edge features, which took the notch of Safari model a step higher. A 2-DIN touch screen infotainment system, which is compatible with iPod, iPhone, USB sticks, memory cards and portable hard disk has been fitted in the new Safari Storme Explorer Edition. The driver assistance programme of Explorer Edition contains an on-screen reverse parking assist and advanced navigation system, which together adds to the convenience of driver.

      Industry experts are of a view that with the launch of a new model, Tata Motors is trying to capitalise on the growing potential of Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment of the Indian auto market. It must be noted that the current generation model of Safari Storme has done really well for the Indian auto maker by establishing a niche among the price sensitive domestic buyers.
