The upcoming Tata Zest shall be launched in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version shall be powered by 1.2-litre MPFi turbocharged engine that produces about 89 bhp. The diesel version shall be powered by 1.3-litre multi-jet engine that produces 89bhp of power with 200Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox; however, the diesel version will also get an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option. Tata Zest has come to reality owing to valuable design inputs efforts put-in from three Tata Motors design studios located in Coventry (UK), Turin (Italy) and Pune (India).

Recently the popular Amaze sedan from Japanese auto-giant Honda spoke volumes for itself on nearing the 1 Lakh sales mark in just about a year of marking its presence in the country. The Honda Amaze sedan is available in petrol and diesel variants. The Petrol version is powered by 1.2 Litre i-VTEC engine that generates power of about 88 Ps or power with 109 Nm of torque. The diesel version is powered by 1.5 Litre i-DTEC engine that generates about 100 Ps of power and 200 Nm of Torque. Honda Amaze test drive by ARAI has stated that the sedan delivers a fuel efficiency of around 25.8 kmpl.

Owing to the new Revotron technology, it would be intereting to see if the upcoming Tata Zest can spell trouble for Honda's popular Amaze in India. Tata Zest sedan scores higher in dynamics, but whether that would imbibe confidence among the buyers is yet to be seen.
