The upcoming Aria-based Hexa SUV was spotted testing in a camouflaged avatar. Due to the spy pictures we have, we now have a better idea of the car that will make its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Hexa is based on the Aria sold in the Indian market at present and will replace it when it’s launched. This time, the Hexa will adopt a sporty look unlike the MPV-type look of the Aria. The fascia boasts of a new honeycomb grille embellished in chrome, revised projector headlamps, DRLs and a new bumper with fog lamps. The production version carries forward the design traits shown on the Hexa concept displayed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Though this test mule rides on stock rims, the top-end gets the 19-inch alloy wheels that have retained their new design shown earlier. The rear section will get tail lamps equipped with LED units and the bumper gets dual exhaust tips and a new shape for the reflectors.

A 2.2-litre four-cylinder Varicor 400 turbodiesel mill will power the Hexa. This unit is tuned to produce 154bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual gearbox, with the probable option of introducing a six-speed automatic transmission. Tata Motors will equip the Hexa with a 4WD system and a Drive Mode selector.

This Tata Aria replacement will be unveiled at the Auto Expo next month. The Hexa will compete with the Toyota Innova and the Renault Lodgy in the Indian market.
