Tata revealed the production version of the Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo and now have started the testing of the vehicle. The sub-four metre vehicle was snapped on test recently on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

The camouflaged test mule was fully masked to hide the features on the car, which was officially unveiled at the biennial event last month. Cosmetically, it follows Tata Motors' next-gen ‘Impact Design’ philosophy. Some of the key exterior features will include a 'chrome humanity line' on the upper grille, projector headlights with DRLs, rising beltline, floating roof and LED tail lamps. With a 200mm of ground clearance, the Nexon will ride on 16-inch alloy wheels.

The Tata Nexon will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The power output of the former are not revealed yet, while the latter oil-burner will churn out 110bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. The engines will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission with three drive modes.

The Nexon made its first appearance at the 2014 Auto Expo as a concept and is now nearing its final production form. It will be built on the X1 platform that is underpinned by the Bolt and the Zest. The Nexon is expected to be launched this year in our country and when launched, it will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
