Troubles for Tata Motors may seem far from being over but that does not deter the company from making progress in its projects. Rumours are doing rounds in the auto circles that Tata Nano Diesel may be launched by September 2009. Earlier it was expected that the diesel engine may have a capacity of 800cc that may be developed by FEV, Germany. However, the recent news speculates that the new diesel engine may have a capacity of 690cc a little over petrol's 623cc capacity.

It does not matter which diesel engine powers world's cheapest car, Tata Nano shall ultimately have the smallest Common Rail Turbocharged Diesel engine in the whole world. An official announcement from Tata Motors regarding the same is much awaited by the auto industry worldwide.
On the other hand, fresh protests refuse to die down at the Singur plant in West Bengal in India. Tata Motors has been contemplating options to take the Nano project elsewhere in the country. Protestors have refused to take 70 acres of land suggested by the State government and are adamant about asking for 300 acres of land that currently falls under 1000 acres Tata Motors plant.
