The world is waiting for its cheapest car! Tata Motors is planning a big ceremony to meet the expectations. Officials are busy running around to make the launch ceremony as a huge success. Nearly every media person from every news channel or publication is flocking down to Mumbai on March 23rd to witness the launch of the much touted car, Tata Nano.
“A function on March 23 would mark the car’s commercial launch in Mumbai. The cars will be on display at Tata Motors dealerships from the first week of April 2009. Bookings will commence from the second week of April 2009,” a company statement said. The details about the booking process and the car itself will be revealed at the launch ceremony.
For the first time in the history of the auto world, task forces have been appointed to control the crowd at the launch ceremony of a passenger car. A similar situation is expected at the time when bookings for the car begin. The Nano will be unveiled at the Parsi Gymkhana at Marine Drive at 7 pm, and since entry is by invitation only, sources say gatecrashers may lead to near riots, explaining the need for security.
"Every necessary step will be taken to control the situation. I will be wrong in calling it a riot-like situation, but yes for sure, there will definitely be excitement and large numbers coming to see the car," said oint Commissioner (law and order) K L Prasad.
