Tata Motors, in a statement, spoke about how it has kept in mind the comfort and convenience of customers while designing this SUV. Notably, Tata Sumo Gold is going to be available in five different variants, thereby giving customers more options. In addition, several performance enhancing features have been added by the firm as well. Senior officials were present at the unveiling of this car, which included Ankush Arora, Senior Vice-President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (Commercial) at Tata Motors, who spoke about this new model. "The new Tata Sumo Gold is the most powerful entry-level SUV, with class leading performance and features, offering the young and progressive Indian entrepreneur with a stylish, new-age vehicle that takes on any terrain with ease," he was quoted as saying.

Reports have claimed that Tata Motors has put in a lot of effort in the designing and improving of this car so as to attract maximum buyers. Sources close to this development suggest that extensive studies have been done along with refined tests to ensure that everything is up to the mark. Some of the features that have been included in this car are USB connectivity, Bluetooth support, dual air conditioner and power windows. Although nothing has been said officially, it is widely expected that the mechanical configuration of this edition is going to be the same.

Tata Sumo Gold SUV comes in two variants, one BS-IV and one BS-III compliant. The BS-IV compliant version of this SUV is fitted with a 3.0-litre CR4 engine, which produces a maximum output of 83 bhp and top torque of 250 Nm. On the other hand, the BS-III variant runs on a 3.0-litre 4SP TCIC powertrain that churns out around 69 bhp of peak power and highest torque of 223 Nm. Tata Sumo Gold has been performing really well due to its solid built, off-road capabilities and refined engine. Industry experts feel that the good performance of the current generation model is likely to benefit the upgraded version.

Things have not been the best for Tata Motors in 2013 as it has battled low demand, dipping sales and inventory pile-up. In order to change this, the Indian auto maker is planning to bring in new models in India. Nano diesel and new Sumo Gold are some of the vehicles that can make their way to showrooms in the near future.
