      Tata Motors sales in April 2012 witnesses a 7 percent dip

      One of the country’s leading automotive companies, Tata Motors has reported a decline in the total sales percentage to the tune of 7 percent from around 64,383 units sold in the month of April last year to 60,086 units sold in April 2012.

      The monthly sales report showcased that the domestic sales comprising the commercial and passenger segment vehicles have dipped by 5 percent from 60,125 units sold in the corresponding period last year to 57,305 units in this April. The company has revealed that the total sales of its commercial segment vehicles have declined by 6 percent while the sale in the passenger vehicle segment have stepped down from 23,387 units in April 2011 to 22,658 units recorded in April 2012.

      Tata Motors have stated that the sales of M & HCV (medium and heavy commercial vehicle) lowered by 29 percent, which stood at 9,829 units in April this year as compared to the 13,936 units in the corresponding period in 2011. The LCV (Light Commercial Vehicles) sales showcased a rise of 9 percent from 22,802 units in April 2011 to 24,818 units sold in this April.

      Moreover, the Tata Nano sales dropped by 20 percent and stood at 8,028 units this April as compared to the 10,012 units sold in April 2011.

      Tata Motors disclosed that the Indigo range registered a sale of 3,669 units from 5,282 units sold in the period under review last year while the Indica range clocked sales rise of up to 63 percent this April. Even the SUVs Sumo, Aria, Venture and Safari range witnessed a shoot up in sales by 5 percent in April 2012.
