      Tata Motors registers 3 percent surge in global sales during August

      Indian auto giant Tata Motors has registered a 3 percent increase in its sales in the global market during the month of August 2011, as compared to the sales in same month last year. The company sells a large number of vehicles in the world market under a number of brands including Tata, Jaguar and Land Rover, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles, along with the several brands in India.

      The total passenger vehicle sales of the firm stood at 18,194 units in the month of August 2011, accounting for a sales surge of 35 percent over the units sold in the August 2010.

      The British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) remained the biggest contributor in the company’s sales, selling 21,242 units during the month of August 2011, registering a sales growth of 31 percent over same month last year. While the sales of luxury car maker Jaguar Cars dipped 10 percent to 3,409 units during the month, premium sports utility (SUV) maker Land Rover registered a sales surge of 43 percent to 17,833 units, during the month.
