      Tata Motors Planning Further Investments in Gujarat

      Tata Motors inaugurated their Tata Nano mother plant in Sanand, Gujarat, also celebrating the occasion of golden jubilee of the State. Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Motors indicated that the company is mulling more investments in Gujarat while speaking at the inaugural function. "I told him that it will be a surprise," said Ratan Tata when Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi asked about his future plans.

      Modi stated that he welcomes Tata Group in the state of Gujarat with open arms and hopes that Tata brings new projects to the state contributing to both state and India’s developments. He also stated that Ratan Tata replicates the revolution by Ford in 20th century when Ford has introduced its small car in the international market. The ultra-cheap car Nano will ensure that middle class families of India are able to afford a small family car.

      Modi also said that his government is adopting similar corporate approach that enables things to happen in record time. Completion of Tata Nano mother plant in Sanand in record time of 14 months to coincide with golden jubilee of the state is an exemplary proof of the same. The government will ensure to match strides and make things happen in future as well.

      Sanand plant has a capacity of manufacturing 2.5 lakh units annually. The pilot commercial production of the Nano has already commenced. Tata Motors has already delivered 35,000 units of it first one lakh cars. It will complete all pending bookings by the end of this year.
